With owning a cat come many universal truths. Temperamental, moody, mischievous and adorable are just a few words to describe them.
First, you get her.
She's the cutest thing in the world. No other animal can compare to the beautiful kitten or cat you now have.
She first cuddles with you.

There is nothing like when your cat first cuddles with you. This means you have earned her trust, which is sometime a large feat.
She meows for food for the first time.
A homemade, gourmet meal is the only thing good enough for this cutie. The cat will eat better than you.
She meows for food an hour after you fed her.
Wow, now it's like you're raising a teenage boy. She's a bottomless pit of hunger and no matter how much food she is given, she will always be hungry.
And you look in the dish and it's full of food.
This is just ridiculous. Somehow if food is not overflowing from the bowl, cats think it's empty.
She wakes you up a 3 in the morning because she's hungry again.

Now, this is getting kind of annoying. You just want to sleep but you have little paws and razor sharp claws touching your face.
And if you don’t get up, she starts knocking things off your shelves.

If you don't get up, she'll knock stuff over until you do. On purpose.
You accidently step on her tail.
There is no worse feeling than hearing the loud, awful screech that echoes from your cat's mouth, and knowing that you caused it.
And you feel like the worst cat parent in the world.

There is no worse feeling than causing your pet pain.
Then feel the need to apologize for the next hour… or week.

Hour, week, month, year...it doesn't matter, you will always remember that moment.
You buy her fun toys, but she’d rather play with a rubber band.
Yeah, don't play with $60 dollars worth of cat toys I just bought to make you happy. The rubber band from under the couch is way cooler anyway.
She wants to cuddle at the most inconvenient times.
For some unknown reason, cats only want to cuddle at times when it is the most inconvenient for you, but they are never around when you have love and time to give them.
She gets separation anxiety if you go to the bathroom and don’t let her tag along.

Little paws WILL stick under the door and pitiful cries WILL be heard if you don't leave the door open.
Even if she acts like a brat sometimes, you still love her.

There is no doubt in my mind that cats are amazing. Their love and trust is not easily given. This makes it so much more rewarding when they accept you into their lives.
