The truly beautiful thing about being a human is each individual's uniqueness. This individuality separates each person from the pack we're surrounded by every day. Throughout history, there has always been something about each person that set them apart, and there will always continue to be — and that is truly special. Love yourself, and more then anything else, own yourself.
Throughout my 21 years on this Earth, I have seen many people including friends and family who have struggled with their self-image. I personally did as well for a chunk of my life. I was constantly made fun of growing up, being called skinny, lanky, un-athletic or the classic "germ-y." Yep, elementary school sure was fun. But as difficult as that was to handle at the time, I overcame it. I began to not care as much what other people thought of me and to accept who I am. I owned who I was as a human being. I promise, once you learn to accept everything about yourself, you see how easy it is to love yourself. Quirks.
Now I'm not saying that this is something that can be accomplished by yourself. Trust me, it is far easier to do with the love and support of those around you. I have found from personal experience that the easiest way to develop self-confidence is through those closest to you. Growing up, I didn't have a lot of friends. sadly enough. However, those that I was lucky enough to have, I held onto very closely. They were there for me when I needed them and I truly appreciated that. Basically, the point that I am trying to get across is that with others around you who genuinely care about your well being.
Finally, one of the most important reasons to love yourself is that this is your life. You are your own person and you cannot change that regardless of how you feel. This is why it is so important to embrace who you are and own it. Doing so will absolutely make the difference in each day's atmosphere. It is truly the little things that make life as special as it is. This is also true regarding loving oneself. Sit down and point out the little things about yourself that make you unique. Ask your friends and family what it is that they love about you. Put a picture of what means the most to you in your mirror, and when you look at it every day, know that you care more about them than anything else.
Life is short — you truly have to enjoy it, because it will fly by right before your eyes. Make sure that you focus on loving yourself, despite any negative sources in your life, and live the life that you love.
