From The Little Who Owes Everything To Her Big

Being a potential new member of a sorority can be stressful, but it’s so much easier when you’ve got a great big by your side.

Before I even decided to go to sorority recruitment events, I had heard about how special big/little relationships were. When you get a big, they not only become your guide, they become your friend. I learned that when I got my big.

From the day I got my bid, some of my friends asked me if I knew who my big would be. I honestly had no idea, even after I got a few clues from her. All I knew is that I wanted my big to be someone I could go to when I had questions and talk to whenever I needed. The moment I found out who my big was, I knew that she was the perfect match for me. I practically jumped onto her and hugged her for a few minutes straight. By the end of the night, my face hurt from smiling so much. Ever since that night, my big has really taken her title seriously. She is always encouraging and checks up on me every day. Without her, I’d be so lost.

As a potential new member, I’ve got a long list of things I need to do before I can get initiated. Every day, my big texts me and asks me how things are going. She asks if I need help or if I’m nervous about anything. It’s nice having someone that’s always there for me. I don’t know what I’d do without her.

So, here’s my message to my big: Thank you. For everything. You don’t even know how much you’ve helped me over the past few weeks. If I get initiated, it’ll be all thanks to you. I can’t wait to finish out my new member process and build a stronger bond with you. Love you, big!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
