Have you ever felt completely overwhelmed by life to the point where you just didn't want to do anything at all? I know. Me too. We have all been there.
At some point in our lives something is going to happen to us that hits us like a ton of bricks and we are going to want to spend the next seven days laying in bed, watching Netflix, and avoiding all human contact. The unfortunate truth, however, is that the world keeps turning and life keeps going on whether we want it to or not. This is also the good news though.
The good news is although you may feel like your world is crumbling the world keeps going on. And I get it, I really do. You can't believe that everyone else's lives keep moving and everyone keeps going and here you are feeling completely stuck. We have all been there or will be there at some point and it will be okay. Everything happens for a reason, yes I really believe that.
So this is where I've been for the past week, overwhelmed and uninspired. This is also the good news, you will never be alone in this! You can pick yourself up and keep going. You can continue to go to class and to go to work and to handle all of your responsibilities. And yes, on your breaks, when you get home for the day, and on the weekend you will flop down on your bed and cry because you have been holding it in just to get through whatever it is you had to do today. That's okay too. You will make people upset because your brain is working in all the wrong ways. And again, that's okay. No matter what you do, no matter how many times in one day you cry, no matter who you upset, it will be okay. You are allowed to feel however it is that you feel and no one is allowed to tell you otherwise.
The bottom line is that eventually you will be okay again, and maybe someone you love will be in this place when you are okay again. You will start to think clearly again and you will begin to figure out why this all happened. Things will work themselves out. And I'm not saying it takes a week, it may take three days and it also may take three years. I certainly am not sitting here telling you that I am okay, I just know that I will be.
So keep going. Do not give up. Do not quit on yourself, even if it feels like the rest of the world is. Even if you feel like you absolutely cannot bring yourself to get out of bed that day. Take care of yourself and love yourself.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6
