Over-thinking is the biggest cause of unhappiness. The over-thinkers spend too much time over-analyzing, over-thinking and over-reacting to situations that should be “buried in the past,” situations that are currently occurring and situations that could potentially happen in the future. Why do we overthink?
Over-thinkers are the ones who analyze things to death, second-guess everything, hate making decisions, regret often, perfect everything, never feel 100 percent certain and who can never turn their brains off. We worry about if someone truly loves us and what words truly mean. Conversations haunt us and force us to analyze every word said, every emotion felt and every action is shown. Over-thinkers are the ones who were betrayed, broken and set-aside left wondering — are we truly good enough?
Pain changes people. It makes them trust less, over-think more and shut people out. To the people who over-think every little thing in life to avoid getting hurt and to find happiness, you deserve better. You deserve better than insomniac nights, replaying conversations in your head while the heat of the shower engulfs the bathroom or silent sobbing into your pillow as the black of night turns to shades of blue.
To the people who lie in bed and hope to fall asleep before you fall apart, remember these Bible verses:
“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your hearts on things above, not on earthly things.”
Colossians 3: 1-2
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4: 6-7
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid: do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
To pray is to let go and let God take over; don’t overthink and kill your happiness. Remember sometimes the pain and the bad things that happen in our lives put us directly on the path to some of the best things that will ever happen to us. Don’t miss it by over-thinking.
