Dear future husband,
I’m not going to break out into song like Megan Trainor, reeling off a list of things that I expect from you. But instead, let me bring to your attention everything that I hope for our relationship.
Let me just start off by saying that I can’t stop dreaming about meeting you. I won’t know what our relationship will bring at a first glance. But when the timing is perfect, it will hit me that I have found my soulmate and someone that I am ready to spend the rest of my life with.
The possibilities of what you may be doing or where you may be in the world are endless. But, I want to hear about it all. Tell me about your travels and your experiences. I want to learn about your passions and fears. I want to know what food you don’t like and what sports team is your favorite. I want you to trust me, reassuring you that I will always be there to hear everything. I look forward to growing with you as a couple, strengthening each other, as well as our faith. With more than just learning the logistics, I will devote the rest of my life to be by your side.
I also want to apologize. I know there will be countless times when we will fight. There is no doubt that I will be emotional and say things that I don’t really mean. Words will be said and feelings will be hurt. We will argue until the sun comes up, and there will be days that it feels that there is no solution. But I can’t begin to thank you enough for not giving up on me. Thank you for always protecting me and having my best interests at heart. Thank you for believing in me and never doubting me in the worst of times.
Lastly, and most importantly, you must know that I love you. I may not have my life together now, but I know that you will bring to me feelings that I have never felt before. Thank you for accepting my flaws and my quirks, and telling me beautiful good in every pair of jeans I try on. I will love you for the tiniest things and learn to accept our differences. I promise to live by the word of our vows and make every effort to continue improving our relationship every day for the rest of my life.
I am excited to celebrate our many anniversaries, buy our first house, have children, and grow old with you. I don’t have my life mapped out for me, but I know that when I find you, I will gain a sense of direction about where my life is headed. I know that the mistakes I made have been a bumpy road leading me to the man of my dreams. I have truly learned that patience is the best virtue and your unconditional love has always been worth waiting for.
With all of my love,
Your future wife
