It's official, Miles and I are ENGAGED! We are extremely joyful and ready for this next adventure in our relationship. We have also loved all of the nice comments and support from our friends and families. Many people have asked me the story of how Miles proposed and I have a hard time explaining in words just how special it was to me. For all of you wondering how Miles proposed, here is the story:
On Monday, December 14, Miles and I got engaged on the Pipeline Bridge in Leavenworth. The day started with a wonderful trip up to Mission Ridge to go sledding with our friends Dalton and Pablo. We didn’t have much planned for the day and it was nice to get up in the fresh snow and have some fun. While we were sledding, Miles mentioned going to Leavenworth for a fun coffee date. We love going to Leavenworth in the winter, because the lights on the buildings and the mountains covered in snow are breathtaking. Since I didn’t have any other plans, I said yes to the date. I didn’t realize that I was also saying yes to his proposal plan.
When we arrived in Leavenworth, we went to our favorite coffee shop, window shopping through town, and visited a beautiful Christmas shop. The Christmas shop had amazing ornaments and decorations. Miles and I spent a long time in the shop, but it was starting to get dark outside so we decided to leave. Before we left, Miles mentioned going for a drive in the mountains. We live in Seattle right now and have both missed the mountains dearly.
After driving through the mountains listening and singing to Christmas music, Miles pulled over and offered to go to one of my favorite places. It’s a small trail called Pipeline that was built for miners who were making a railroad. The trail has a beautiful rustic red bridge overlooking the Wenatchee River. It’s a truly magical place. There was snow, but not too much. We ventured out to the bridge and I pulled out my phone to take pictures. After taking a few pictures, Miles grabs my hand and says he has a question to ask me.
I obliviously turn around and see Miles getting down on his knee. He pulls out a ring and says, “Kyra, will you marry me?” I was so sweetly surprised that all I could do was stare at him with my mouth wide open and tears in my eyes. I mustered a yes through the tears and asked Miles what the ring looked like. My eyes were blurry and all I could see was a blob of silver.
Miles proceeded to tell me that the ring is my grandma's and she gave it to us as a gift. I love the history behind my engagement ring and couldn’t be happier to be marrying the man of my dreams. We are truly blessed!
Miles and I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their love, prayers, and support. We are blown away by the positivity that we have received from so many people that we adore. God bless and have a wonderful Christmas!
