Is failure an option? I believe we should consider failure as one of the strongest and most constant forces we face. Defeat is only valid if we allow it to take us down, and accepting it leads us to conformity. When the question is presented to most people, they cringe with the idea of failure. The problem is that most individuals focus on the wrong word when offered this query.
“Option” — that’s the word that should be highlighted when asked the validity of failure as a choice. We spend most of our lives making decisions that steer the way we move around this world. Making decisions can be stressful, but once we come to terms that failure is always going to be an option, only then will we guarantee personal and societal growth. In fact, defeat can be viewed as the best selection in most cases. Failure is the only thing that guarantees that we learn from our past decisions. If we live in constant success, we’ll never evolve as individuals. Who would have thought that failure — the thing we’ve been convinced to reject — would be the most engaging and helpful option in our lives? But what makes failure, as an option, interesting is the fact that no two people on this earth will share the same defeats, and that’s amazing! Infatuation with options, allows people to never be satisfied with what they've accomplished. Irrefutably, intellectual growth and making decisions are a part of us until the day we die.
Sadly, that perspective is not as common as we'd like it to be. The problem lies in the fact that we live in a society that accepts circumstances and refuses to do anything about it. Conformity is an illness that poisons us and begins with the bite of venomous indifference. The reality of the issue is that I am simply terrified of accepting my circumstances and not doing anything to improve them. There's always room for improvement, no matter who you are. From my perspective, the moment we drop our love for knowledge is the moment we've given up on our personal development. So, we should consider conformity our enemy until the day we cease to exist.
Therefore, we should not be afraid of failure, but horrified and terrified of conformism. There’s no reason to be afraid of defeat, because it’s the most efficient way to guarantee that we grow as individuals. Society has convinced us that we are not worthy if we fail, but I stand here saying that the people who embrace failure are the ones who flourish and push our world to better place.
When it comes down to "What should we do?" I believe we should embrace defeat as an option, be repulsed by conformity, and fall in love with our failures.
