"Wow, you look just like your mom" is something that I hear all the time. And I mean, all the time. I'll be honest, there was a time in my life when I wasn't sure how I felt about that. I wanted to be my own person and have my own look, but now, I realize that there is no one I would rather be compared to. I'm so proud and honored to look like you and to be like you. It seems that the older I get, the more alike we become. You basically cloned yourself when you had me.We have the same laugh, the same style, the same craving for sugar, and the same bumps on our heels that we've never really been able to explain. I don't always tells you how much you mean to me, and I think it's time you find out. So here's to you, Mom.
Thank you for never giving up on me. I know that I was not always the easiest daughter to raise but I also know that even in the times I pushed you to tears you still loved me unconditionally. You've always been my biggest supporter and my number one fan. I can't thank you enough for always pushing me to do my best. You have helped me become the strong woman I am now and I will never be able to repay you for that.
Thank you for teaching me how to cook (Thanks to you, I can make a mean Puerto Rican feast.) Thank you for teaching me how to run a household and, most importantly, how to be a mother. You have instilled such amazing values in me and I cannot wait to one day share them with my children. I can only hope I will be as good a mother to my future children as you are to me.
You've taught me to be strong and to never let anyone or anything get in the way of my dreams. You've showed me how to work hard in life and accomplish my goals. Because of you, I know the kind of love a woman deserves and I know the kind of man I deserve.
I know we have our differences, and I know that there are days when we get frustrated with one another, but at the end of the day a hug and an "I love you" are always waiting for us. When I think of all the people in this world who do not have a Mom like I do, it breaks my heart. I wish I could share you with all of them. Everyone in the world should get the chance to have a mom as wonderful as you.
I love our time together and the older I get, the more special that time is. I know I am still your little girl but I love that we can tell each other everything, laugh together, and cry together. I cannot wait to have my own daughter someday and I pray I will have a relationship with her that is as strong as the one I have with you. You have been my biggest role model in life and each day I strive to be just like you.
I love you, Mom. If I turn out to be half the woman you are, I will be incredibly happy.
