You are not defined by society's standards. Looking into the mirror, you may pick out all of your flaws, but do you ever pick out your beauty?
In today's society, there is overwhelming pressure to have the perfect body (and the summer makes it a lot more overwhelming). Sure, you can hide your size under your hoodies and jeans, but you can't bear the heat as summer approaches, thus leading you to show off your curves and, in your mind, flaws. This is a never ending battle within your mind. As much as you want to wear that spaghetti strap dress or fitted shirt, it will never match what is placed in front of you.
However, just because your body doesn't look like the ones in the Victoria's Secret advertisements doesn't make you any less than they are. Your body is important and you should never starve yourself to fit into those skinny shorts in the back of your closet. You can't change or mold your bones to perfectly match another, but you can change your attitude towards your body. So, why not start loving it?
Instagram plays a major role in your self-esteem and worth. As you scroll down through your feed, you may notice each and every pretty girl in a bikini and find yourself in envy of their body. Yes, the boobs and the butt aren't the problem, but it's everywhere else that gets to your head. I'm sure you have tried dieting, working out and having a healthy lifestyle, but the way you are built will never meet your goals of being fit. The wide hips, large thighs, muscular calfs, broad shoulders, large arms and whatever else will challenge your self-esteem. You want so badly to look like the girls you see on Instagram or to even be able to post a picture in a bikini without feeling insecure.
I know how difficult it can be to have this on your shoulders, but always remember one thing: you are perfectly perfect the way God made you. Some girls are built to have skinny structures and others, like you, are not. The size of your jeans doesn't define your beauty or who you are. You are incredibly gorgeous just the way you are. It is okay to have healthy goals set for yourself, but never change in order to fit the standards of society.
Whatever you may do, make sure you always remember to love who you are, flaws and all. I can promise you that the way you are built does not change the way you should live your life. Continue to be you and keep that smile wide and that head high. You are beautiful in every way.
