Dear Binge-watcher,
It is Holiday break so you find yourself looking through Netflix for some new show to binge-watch– a worthwhile task. Non-bingers may not understand the dedication it takes to watch a whole series at once, but when you get hooked, suddenly hours–even days–disappear. I have been known to binge shows–well, let's just say more than one should–so I understand the draw. If you are reading this article it means that you have come up for air, and I applaud you for that; fret not this will stay brief.
Now that you have fully committed to this, you must do it correctly. You need snacks at the ready because there will undoubtedly come a time when you need to stress eat or to eat your feelings or you might just get hungry. Make sure to also stay hydrated, while bathroom runs are inconvenient, you have to take care of yourself. Next you need to make sure that your social calendar is clear because there is nothing worse than being halfway through the season finale when you remember that you have lunch planned with your friend in ten minutes. This next suggestion is left fully to your discretion; chances are your chosen show has some sort of following meaning that there is a plethora of online posts about it which you may or may not want to indulge in. I'm one of those watchers who likes to see if everyone else understands that Brooke should not, under any circumstances, end up with Lucas, but I understand that not everyone feels that way.
I know that others will try to discourage you from this mighty task, but you must not waver. At this point you have already invested hours of your life and you are most likely quite attached to the characters of your given show, so why quit now? On top of both of those things, you have also lost countless hours of sleep and several meals, sacrifices that would be meaningless if you don't finish the series. Some could argue that you should cut your losses, but those people are not as involved in the actors lives, they don't know that the main female lead has dated three of her co-stars, even though she is clearly meant to be with Julian from season four. You can't leave the characters behind now, what if she ends up with the wrong person? Sure, you don't actually have control over this, but one can dream.
Okay, you are officially ready to work through this binge. The nay-sayers have been blocked and your dedication is something to be admired. Just remember as you continue, that YOU ARE A CHAMPION BINGE-WATCHER.
Sincerely,
A fellow binger
