Dear U of A,
You really are a place that makes dreams come true. You are so beautiful with your rolling hills, perfect landscaping and absolutely brilliant location. Seeing the names of those who had gone before me on the sidewalk everyday on the way to class gives me the motivation I need to get through my day and to get my degree. I love that about you. I love the atmosphere you exude, and I love the nice people who walk your hallways. You give me hope for my future. Every 8 a.m. class (which really blows) is just preparing me for the real world where I am going to make a name for myself.
You are basically an education with a built-in workout. Wherever you want to go on campus you basically have to climb a mountain or run a marathon. This is painful yet incredible when it comes to keeping off the freshman 15, which is easily accessible via Brough. Another built-in exercise is your parking situation. If you don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for resident reserved or a parking garage, you have to walk across the entire state of Arkansas to get to class. That is if you even find a parking spot. I love you U of A, but you need to step up your parking game.
I love that you are in the SEC. It is such a blessing to be involved in a conference where sports are so competitive and well played. On game day, there is a completely different atmosphere here that is just contagious. The tailgates, the games, the student section are all such a great experience here at the U of A.
I love your importance of Greek life. I know some don’t like you for this exact reason, but there are so many great aspects of Greek life that are so helpful towards the community and its members. I love that it is the type of Greek life where you can be friends with anyone, and it's not really segregated. I love your emphasis on community.
I love where we call ourselves home. Fayetteville, Arkansas is the perfect town. It’s not so massive that you never know how to get around, but it’s not so small that you ever get bored. There is always stuff to do here for whatever you liking is. You are nestled in the mountains, which lends itself to great outdoor adventures like hiking and camping.
I love that I can call this a home. Your freshman year of college is really scary and new and I love that this is a place where you can feel comfortable starting your independent life. A student's four years here are such a pivotal moment in their lives, and you really make the best of them. So thank you University of Arkansas for everything. Woo Pig Sooie forever.
Love,
Students
