An Open Letter to My Boyfriend

You've seen me at my best and my worst.

Dear Love,

In my freshman year of high school, I remember that I used to roll my eyes at all of the the couples kissing in the hallway. I would also groan in annoyance as I pushed my way through the ones who just couldn't keep their hands off of each other - literally. My senior year of high school changed the way that I felt towards that and for once, I understood. I understood what it was like to just want to constantly hold someone's hand, to not be able to keep your eyes off of them, and to be unable to resist the feeling of their lips - even if it was just for one class period. My senior year of high school changed all of that - because of you.

For all of the times that you've held me while I cried and let me stain your brand new shirt with my mascara, thank you.

For all of the times you've warmed my feet while we were cuddling because mine were too cold, thank you.

For all of the times you let me pick the movie that we watch on Netflix that night - even if it bored you to tears, thank you.

For all of the times that you helped me let loose when I was stressed out, thank you.

For all of the times that you made me feel safe in your arms, thank you.

For all of the times that you let me take pictures of us together - even though you hate them, thank you.

For all of the times that you made me feel beautiful in my own skin, thank you.

For all of the times that you showered me in kisses when I needed them the most, thank you.

And for all of the times that you held my hand when I was afraid, thank you.

Thank you for treating me like nothing less than a princess. All of the small things that you do for me never go unnoticed, even if sometimes they seem like they do. I could not ask for a better man to spend my days next to. I try to tell you on a daily basis how much I truly do love you, but I feel as though words will never do justice. For all of the times that you picked me up from work so that I didn't have to walk, thank you. For all of the times that you opened the door for me, thank you. For all of the times you fell asleep with me on the phone at night so that you were there if I had a nightmare, thank you. And for the things that weren't listed, but are greatly appreciated, thank you. Thank you for helping me to grow as a person and making me into the best woman that I can be. You are truly the most incredible boyfriend and best friend that any woman could ever ask for. I cannot thank God enough for bringing you into my life. You're my world.

Love,

Your Girlfriend

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
