An Open Letter To My Soulmate

We all have a soulmate out there whether it's our sibling, our parent, our best friend, our roommate, our neighbor, or our significant other, and you just happen to be mine.

An Open Letter To My Soulmate

Before you, I never believed in soulmates.

I didn’t really even know what a soulmate was to be honest. Was it someone who could finish the end of my sentence? Was it someone who knew exactly what I would order at a restaurant? Was it someone who could list my top 10 favorite songs?

Not really.

Since I met you I’ve learned that a soulmate is much more complex than that.

A soulmate is someone who can empathize with me until I don’t feel alone anymore. A soulmate is someone who can make me laugh until I end up crying on the floor. A soulmate is someone who can make my heart smile. A soulmate is someone who can make me so happy and full of joy that there’s no room for pain to overbear me. A soulmate is someone whose love consumes me, someone whose laughter fills my head, and someone whose touch eases every nerve in my body.

A soulmate is someone who has the other missing piece of our soul. Someone whose energy and aura is so strong that it instantly attracts us to them.

Some people believe in soulmates. Others don’t. I am one of the lucky ones who does.

You are my soulmate.

Since the day I first laid eyes on you, I saw a light within you that drew me towards you. Your light is what has saved me on days where I just want to give up. Your light is what inspires me to be a better person day in and day out. Your light is what motivates me to roam through the darkness until I reach my own light.

You have given me the missing pieces of myself. You have completed me in ways I could’ve never completed myself on my own. And for that, I, thank you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
