An Open Letter To My Person

Even though we met 2 very short months ago, I’m pretty sure you are my person. I know I can ALWAYS count on you. Whether it’s for lunch between class, “meet me at my room in 5” texts, or 3 am talks with the RA’s; from the moment I met you, I knew we’d be great friends!! We both liked musicals, boys, booze, and most importantly being loud, crazy, and funny.

I want to thank you for listening to me ramble on and on about all of my feelings when I can’t quite put my finger on what I’m thinking. Thank you for accepting my weirdness and being weird with me. Thank you for dragging me everywhere, like out to lunch with the RA’s so you can just talk to the hot one. Thank you for letting me drag you everywhere, like when we uber’d to chipotle on Halloween for $3 burritos even though you got a quesadilla and the uber cost $13. Thank you for knowing when I just need to laugh. Thank you for knowing when I’m not myself and that something is going on.

For the times we spent roaming around Brandywine Hall meeting thousands of people because we couldn’t actually go out (#recruitmentprobs!!!), thanks for sticking by my side. Thanks for putting me before you, like when you stayed in my room for 3 hours because that guy was in MY DORM even though you didn't 100% want to be there. Thank you for making my first semester at college memorable and fun! Thank you for always making me smile. Thank you for assuring me that I looked hot when I didn’t feel cute enough to go out. For opening up to me and telling me some of your secrets. For printing out my paper so I wasn’t that late for class. Thanks for introducing me to your friends because they are just like you which means I would absolutely love them too. Thanks for listening to every single detail of my weekend every Sunday morning. Thanks for reassuring that I can wear heels if I want to. Thanks for laughing at my bad jokes.

But most importantly; thank you for being the best partner-in-crime, duet partner, Penny to my Tracy, best friend, and sometimes mom that I could ever ask for. You better stay by my side for the rest of college and my life. I can’t wait to be in each others' wedding. Love you sugar, peace and blessing.

Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
