Dear Future Little,
Recruitment is over and done with. Aren't you happy?! You can now say you are a member of a wonderful sorority! I know it may seem frightening or maybe you're super excited but there are many amazing things coming your way. I'm sure you've heard a bunch of spiels during rush from members about how sororities changed their lives and how they don't know where they would be if it wasn't for their sorority. Now, as dramatic as that may have seemed, I am here to tell you as your future big... that it is true.
Being in a sorority is more than wearing letters on a jersey and more than being around a bunch of girls all the time. Being in a sorority is your stepping stone to truly fulfilling all of your college goals. Through Greek organizations you are able to make friends, go to events, have a place to call home, network and be presented with opportunities you may have never known if it wasn't for your sisters and your organization.
Now that you are a member, it is time to get involved. You don't have to strive to be an officer and you don't have to you go to every single event. However, you should start somewhere. Go to the house, talk to new faces, go on lunch dates, invite people over. The more people you get to know, the better the sorority experience is for you. There are more than enough resources and ways to get involved, all it takes is you showing up.
Another thing: grades do matter. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in parties and outings to Tigerland, but that's not what you're here for. As I have learned, it can be hard to tell your friends or sisters "no" but school should always come first. Also, going out all the time really does take a toll on your body and health. So you may want to consider that, sista.
Back to the fun stuff. Discovery Week will be right around the corner! I can't wait to reveal myself and see your lit up face.
Here are my lists of promises to you:
1) I promise to be the best big ever.
2) I promise to make Discovery Week one of the most fun weeks of your life.
3) I promise to be as crafty as my fingers will let me.
4) I promise to go out on lunch dates every other week.
5) I promise to let you vent to me about all your "freshmen probz."
6) I promise to go to the gym with you even when I don't feel like it.
7) More importantly I promise to binge watch Netflix and eat junk food with you for an eternity.
8) I promise to dance with when you accomplish big things.
9) Most important of all, I promise to be there for you, all the time. To guide you, to cry with you, be there just to listen... whatever.
I chose you as my little because I see a real bond with us and I'm looking forward to many more years with you and kickin' LSU's butt!
