A Thank You To My Favorite Nurse Who's Really A Friend

There were nights where I would just want to break down into a puddle of tears but your lively spirit made me feel better.

I just want to say thank you.

Thank you for being there for me when I felt like my world was crashing down.

When the pain became so excruciating but you eased it as much as you could with your words.

Thank you for listening. When doctors weren't taking what I was saying as seriously as they should be and you advocated for me.

I am so grateful for the times you got me out of my room to do midnight walks on the floor even if my IV pole was alongside us. Thank you for ignoring the fact that I always looked a mess. You don't know how much it helped me feel normal and get out of my head for a little bit.

Thank you for noticing when I became a bit quieter or had to pause for breaks in between our walks and asking if I was okay. I know it's a part of your job but your compassion and empathy shined through.

From the talks about what clothes stores we loved to gossip and just how crazy life can be, you definitely changed my perspective on life.

You had a very strong belief and even though I don't follow that as well as I should, it inspired me. There's a path for everyone in life and we have to trust that whoever we believe or whoever is up there is guiding us in some way.

We have to have faith that life is going to work out the way it's supposed to.

I hate hospital stays more than anything but you made it bearable. You made me forget what I was going through.

Thank you for always being kind.

There were nights where I would just want to break down into a puddle of tears but your lively spirit made me feel better. You made my smiles brighter and I always looked forward to you being my nurse (don't get me wrong, I love all the other nurses but you are my favorite).

Thank you for communicating with the doctors whenever I had an issue. Again, I know it is a part of your job but you were always right on top of anything when it came to how I was feeling.

You are more than just an amazing nurse, I consider you a friend. You were there for me when I was at my lowest. You didn't have to ask me how my day was or be caring or even be warm towards me but you were.

I appreciate you and I am very grateful that you came into my life even if it wasn't in the best of circumstances.

Sincerely,

Your Favorite Patient

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
