An Open Letter To Crazy Best Friends

I adore every single moment I spend with these crazy ladies, enough to write and share pictures of them all over my social media.

Dear Crazy Best Friends,

You aren’t like typical best friends. You are much more than that. You are both good and bad influences. Without our friendly peer pressure and supportive nature, we wouldn't be able to survive finals week. It’s a perfect mix. We're able to have more good times than bad, even though there are some that we can't remember.

Not only do I turn to you to make plans for Friday nights but I also turn to you for absolutely everything, and that means the world to me. It would kill me if I didn't have you guys to spill all my secrets to and give a word-for-word retelling of my worst and most embarrassing days. To be quite honest, if it wasn't for you guys I'd go completely insane. For some strange reason you guys manage to save me from my insanity; you'll listen to me, give me advice and then take me out for some fro-yo.

We have a great time riding the subway to Union Square and laughing down the streets looking like complete fools. We don't care what others think of us. We're having fun and we look like the happiest people on the island of Manhattan. Although we each run separate and incredibly busy lives, absence isn't a part of our friendship. If one of us doesn't text on the regular we know something's up.

Every best friend relationship is different. Sometimes they've known each other since they were babies or they've lived in the same town together. For us, we met at different points in our college career. But we were brought together by our passions and love for life. Each step we have taken to become practically sisters has been absolutely beautiful.

There's nothing I love more than wanting pizza at three in the morning and shopping in the sale section at every store because we're broke college students. It's nice to have a strong friendship that we can be completely ourselves in. You guys are crazy and that's probably why we became friends in the first place.

If I were to imagine my life without you guys, well it would be rather boring and I most definitely wouldn't know what to do with myself. We're stuck with each other, especially as we plan our spring break and futures together. This is for an amazing friendship and a crazy life together.

With much love,

Katherine

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
