Thank you for being there for me, supporting me, and becoming my best friend.

College roommates create an everlasting bond between two people who are in the process of learning what it’s like to live on their own.

Dear College Roommate,

Can you believe we shared a 10x10 room together for months? I wouldn’t have chosen anyone else! Living away from home for the first time in my life was hard, but you made my adjustment much more bearable until I was comfortable. Thank you for listening to me call my mom 7584598 times a day to ask for help or just update on my life. Thank you for all the times we spent Facetiming my little brother and giving him advice when I wasn’t there, and for all the times we called my uncle when we needed some comedic relief and a good laugh. Let's not forget you making my birthday extra special!! You welcomed my family as much as you welcomed me into my life and helped me to feel comforted in my new “home.”

Thank you for the 2 a.m. late night cries about stress, boys, friendship troubles and life in general. You never judged me but worked to understand where I was coming from in order to give me advice that I needed. Crying to you helped me realize that we're all human and it’s okay to need help or just a shoulder to lean on. You were always there to pick me up when I fell face first and encourage me to do my best.

Thank you for being my personal alarm clock and making sure I was up and ready for my 9 a.m. class. Thank you for texting me throughout the day and making sure I was okay, and for all the times you sat with me when you could tell I needed some extra help on a difficult day. Thank you for visiting me at work, the drives to chipotle and the forever memorable visits to the cute boy at Verizon and beauty of the waterfall. Thank you for the inside jokes, screams at the top of our lungs over who knows what and the “Tinaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, are you serious” whenever I did something dumb (LOL) let's not talk about it.

Thank you for all the times we needed a break from life and busted out into song and dance, the clothes we shared, the pink perfume I used for weeks straight, for dealing with my messy and unorganized side of the room, the over flowing garbage pail and the setting powder I always dropped on the floor. Thank you dealing with all my unfortunate quirks and the messes I made.

Thank you for showing me the true meaning of friendship; after seeing the good, the bad, and the ugly (my great decisions to do my makeup in the dark) you always saw the best in me. Thank you for focusing on all the positives in life, your love for naps and the random notes you left me saying you hope I had a good day. Your random acts of kindness taught me that being a good person is the only thing that truly matters.

I’m so proud of everything you accomplished this year. You are a beautiful soul and intelligent strong and capable women who is going to succeed in everything you set your mind to! I’ll always be there for you as you were for me. I love you

Your biggest fan,

Tina

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
