Dear Big,

From the minute I met you at choir practice the fall of my freshmen year I knew how much I loved you. I wanted you to be my Big before I even knew what a Big was. I used to tell you I liked your letters every Thursday and you would say the letters or the fabric? And I would say both. But what I actually meant was the amazing person wearing the letters.

You basically explained college to me freshman year. You introduced me to people and let me follow you around like a lost puppy. You were supportive of my interests, my relationships, and always made sure I was nothing but happy. You let me cry over broken hearts and bad test grades. We watched Les Miserables and cried when Eponine didn't get the man. We also obsessed over Ron Pope and Chipotle. My day got significantly better whenever I saw you and you yelled "Little!"

I'm always so proud when people ask me who my Big is, and the ones that know you always tell me how much they love you. When you were getting ready to graduate, my heart was hurting because we'd soon be three hours apart instead of two minutes. Now I love hearing about your job and interviews you go on. I love hearing about your friends, your co-workers and really anything you want to tell me about. Even if your advice to me is "Don't graduate" I genuinely value your advice on how to "adult."

Speaking of advice, it means the world to me when you call me to say hi or even when you send me a smiley face or heart emoji. It also means the world to me when you ask my advice and I can help even if it's just by listening. One thing that I've learned with my own Littles is that the Big does not have to be perfect all the time. It is a relationship built on unconditional love, and it's okay to not have it all together all of the time because what 20 something does?

You are one of the kindest people I know. Your dedication to your academics and your work is so admirable. You are an amazing example of the type of sorority woman others should strive to be. You are already doing wonderful things, and I know it will only go up from here for you. We have gotten each other through some incredibly rough times, and I know we will continue to do so in the future. Thank you so much for being my rock, big. Let's move to the same city and/ or get rich enough that we can make visiting way more often possible.

Because I knew you, I have been changed for good.

Love,

Little

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
