Open Letter To Donald Trump's Supporters

The late night thoughts of a frustrated, God-fearing, conservative political science major.

Dearest fans of "The Donald,"

Normally I wouldn't write such a letter but the political science major that I am quite frankly has had enough.

How can you call yourself a conservative Republican and stand behind a man like Mr. Trump? The GOP is based solely on the American family and traditional Christian values. Its platforms stem from preserving the "great American family," to advancing care for those with disabilities, and creating a culture of hope, among a lot of others. These things can be found on the GOP website itself.

So, how can you support a man who has had multiple wives and multiple sex scandals?

How can you support someone who so proudly mocked the disabled?

How can you support a man who has referred to women with such incredibly belittling insults?

How can you support a man who consistently lies?

A man who promises demise in the Middle East?

Every single person behind Mr. Trump spent the last eight years chastising Obama for simply being more like a "celebrity" than a president. I'm not a fan of president Obama either. However, I also don't want to elect the equivalent of a Kardashian with a terrible tan and a toupee.

You're the same people who criticized Obama and labeled him illegitimate until you were blue in the face because he "evolved" on the issue of same-sex marriage. The same people who have bashed Senator Clinton for "evolving" on issues are the same people standing behind a former pro-choice Planned Parenthood supporter, a former fan of restricting access to firearms, and the donor behind $25,000 to a Clinton operative. The same politicians you so strongly dislike that are backed by Wall Street and corporate interests are the same politicians Trump's funded.

Screw Hillary Clinton for Benghazi, but allow a man to promise to make illegal orders to the military. Condemn Obama for executive orders and his ignorance and light-handed policies with Russia but allow a man with no political experience to launch a nuclear bomb past Congress and blow the Middle East "out of the water." Not to mention his potential BFF Vladimir Putin.

"He's a businessman." But, he's in a union. The Screen Actors Guild to be exact. Not your kind of businessman until 2016, huh?

"He'll control immigration." You as a Republican believe in limited government, however, are okay with thousands of new ICE agents. The estimated 11 billion dollar immigration stunt will cause the economy to completely disintegrate. The two thousand mile wall will need thousands of people in uniform to ensure it's rectitude. Immigration, just like the CO2 problem you refuse to acknowledge, is irreversible. You're condemning the illegal immigrants Trump has given a paycheck.

"When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt." Leviticus 19:33-34.

Your platforms are illegitimate until you stand behind them even when they don't benefit you.

Hypocrisy.

Much Love,

A fed up political science major.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
