On June 12, 2016, at the 70th Annual Tony Awards, "Hamilton: An American Musical" left the event with 11 wins in total. Eleven.
This came as no shock because people have been raving about this magnificent show. There is no need for a quick synopsis about this because everyone knows it's about the Founding Father on the ten dollar and the rise of a revolution.
The show was crafted by two creative geniuses by the name of Alex Lacamoire and Lin-Manuel Miranda. They painted a historic world with hip hop influences and sounds that are so catchy. The music is unforgettable.
In preparation for the show they picked magnificent minds to help portray the unknown story of Hamilton.
What I want to say to the cast is thank you.
For a while, I felt like there were two sides to Broadway music. There were the rich and pure All-American belters who wanted love and the soulful African American world who were singing for freedom from a chambered heart.
But when the forceful introduction of the first track, "Alexander Hamilton" flowed into my ears, I knew there was no turning back. This show captivated the true essence of diversity in America. It brought hope to our generation.
It also taught me a few life long lessons along the way.
It showed me that we as humans need to be stronger than our wants. There are moments when we must be selfless even though that means being dissatisfied.
I learned that no one's paths are ever the same. We must be able to admire our life's successes and tragedies. We must be willing to wait for our turn for happiness.
Lastly, this show taught me that we must be willing to see the light in the darkness of the world. We have to look around to determine how lucky we are to be alive right now. And some times it takes a lot of

I applaud you and admire the hard work that you bring to the Richard Rodgers Theater each night.
To Lin-Manuel Miranda specifically, I want to say that you are an inspiration to so many people in this world, including me. The stamina that you have to make your dreams come true is phenomenal and out of this world. You showed the world that creative ideas derive from culturally included minds. The cast that you brought together in this show helped me believe that there is always place for diversity.
The people of the "Hamilton" cast are breaking barriers for our generation.
You all told a story in a way that will linger with us for days to come. You showed us that we need to have pride in ourselves and our history.
