Life is like a poisonous snake, waiting in the brush to strike unexpectedly. As fast as the good times come, they go and in a whirlwind of unfortunate events, we are back at the start, back at square one more confused than ever. Our kingdoms have fallen and we are left standing hopelessly in the rubble.
So what now? How do we begin to clean up this wreckage once again?
To the girl who has lost her way, hold fast. Though a storm rages around you, it cannot compare to the storm raging within you. You are a fierce warrior fighting for your life. You are fighting for what you believe in. You are fighting for your happiness. You are fighting to be free.
In the wise words of Doctor Preston Burke, " You are not the enemy. You are just the competition." And although he was talking about Doctor Derek Shepherd, this quote seems to speak more to real life than the juicy drama of Grey's Anatomy. Look at it this way, are you trying to defeat life or are you trying to compete with life because there is a huge difference between the two? You cannot defeat life, it will always win. You will be fighting a dying cause. Literally. Life is not the enemy. But if you compete with life, that's another story. You will win some and lose some. The highs and lows of life are inevitable. Life is a game of push and pull and if you don't bend with it, you will break.
You can control how you respond to life's highs and lows. Will it break you or make you stronger? Life is a lightening storm, beautifully dangerous. You are a hurricane, strong and steady. Weather the storm and come out polished and refined on the other side. Life's a storm, but so are you. Dance in the rain!
We were never made to conquer life, but to have the faith that if we bend with the curve balls, we won't break. Life isn't a straight go; there are twists and turns and hills and valleys. There will be good and bad days. But just remember, "It's not the load that breaks you. It's the way you carry it."
