You hear the phrase "you're so spoiled" quite a bit. Thats fine, you are. You're daddy's little girl and your momma's protege, but you still butt heads with them more times than you can count. Your brother's are your protectors, even your younger brother would do anything for you. Its great being the only girl. You learn how to be one of the guys while still looking fabulous in your new shoes. You learn how to talk baseball from your dad, you learn how to paint your nails and do your hair from your mom, your older brother's teach you how to throw a mean right hook, and your little brother shows you how much you can love a person.
Being the only girl is neat. But as you get older, you start to wish you had someone to share clothes with and you envy the girls with older sisters. Don't get mewrong, having brothers is great! But you can't swap jeans with your brothers, they just won't fit right! So what do you do? You try out for a sport and make close girl friends that way. Those great years go by fast and before you know it, you're graduating and the girls you grew up with are heading to a college hundreds of miles away from yours.
College is a whole new world. Your mom isn't there to straighten your hair when you're feeling a bit too lazy to do it, you no longer have full access to dad's credit card, and your brother's are too far away to watch movies with you. So then what do you do? Well, you join an organization. After many lonely Netflix nights and the one friend you made moved to Austin, you decided to join an organization that you swore to yourself you'd never join. A sorority. But which one do you pick? Its hard deciding where your new home would be, I joined Zeta Tau Alpha. I finally got the sisters I always wanted! Remember the days when you were tired of the clothes you had and wanted a sister so you could wear her jeans? Yep, thats a possibility now!
Being the only girl in the family was always fun, but when you leave your home to start your life, it gets harder. My advice to you is join an organization that will bless you with life long friends and the sisters you've always wanted. Don't spend every day wishing you were still at home. You get to go home to your family during the holidays and come back to the family you made at school. You never forget the advice your parent's gave you and you thank God for the brother's he blessed you with. Then you thank God for your life long sisters.
