Dear "Thank you,"
Once a year, we dedicate a day to shout your name extra loud and extra proud. As for the other 364 days of the year, we say your name so casually. Your presence is well regarded, yet we call your name so often that we can forget the value in your meaning. You’re a habit, and a good one, but habits can sometimes become too comfortable. So often I find myself just rattling off your name without really thinking about it or really taking the time to acknowledge the one I am sharing you with. It's just something you say for social politeness. But, you are best when you are sincere and best when you're dear. You have great meaning and it deserves to be shown.
So, for those simple every day "thank yous," I wish you be shared the right way. In a sincere tone, looking the one whom I wish to thank in the eyes—the cafeteria worker who is working every day and is so patient; to the fellow student who hold the door for me as I walk into class, to the girl in my building who always asks how my day is. It’s the simple things that add up, make or break a day so they deserved to be highly regarded—it is one way to connect us to other people.
It's important to share you every day in a small, sincere way. Yet, it is important to share you in bigger ways too, and not just once a year. We must sit down count blessings—family, friends, health, a place to call home, food to eat, a job of your own, and the list goes on. We shall share you with the ones who have make these blessings part of reality.
Thank you, "thank you," for connecting us to others not just one day a year but every day. May your presence be rightfully treated and proudly shared.
