“Because I have a brother, I’ll always have a friend.”
To my older brother,
To start with, I want to say congratulations. I am so proud of you! I knew from the beginning that you’d be successful and graduate, so good job bro! Plus, you should feel good about graduating with better grades than I’ll ever make! And you were in harder classes than me…
I also want to thank you. Thank you for always pushing me to do better. Thank you for the endless amounts of times you took the blame for me with mom and dad. Thank you for giving me someone to look up to. Thank you for going through and experiencing life first so I wouldn’t make the same mistakes you did. Thank you for always being someone to compete with. Most of all, thank you for always being there.
We always competed in everything, still do. Whether it was sports, Xbox games, board games, grades, or seeing who could run faster, we were always rivals. I remember always arguing on who will make more money when we’re grown (I will). Not that money is all that matters, but I love that constant drive to do better! You always know what to say to me when I fail or am down, so I appreciate you for that. But know, just because you’re better at school doesn’t mean you’ll be better at life. I will beat you!
You start your “real” life now, which is crazy to think about! Your big boy job is nearing and you get to pay your own bills now, how exciting! You have medical school left, but I know you’ll do just as well, if not better! I believe in you. You were meant to be a doctor.
We may not talk all the time and we may live in two different states, but know that you’re still my hero. You always were and always will be. When you think life is getting tough, just remember that I believe in you and know you can do this! Also, I’m here to talk to anytime day or night. I know I act like I don’t care most of the time, but I really do. When we fight, know that I’m sorry. I am so proud to call you my brother.
So you’re graduating now … A tip: don’t get bit on the nose by a dog like you did before your high school graduation. As funny as that was, it didn’t look too good in your pictures! Another tip: don’t trip on stage. If you do, you will hear me laughing and you will be on my Snapchat story.
My one real tip to give you is to stay true to yourself. If there is one thing I know for sure, it’s that you’re an amazing person inside and out. You’re funny, caring, smart, confident, and an all-around great person. Med School will be tough, but don’t change who you are to fit in. You’re the perfect doctor to me, so remember that.
Again, congratulations big brother! I love you and I am so proud!
Love,
Your loving sister who will eventually beat you
