Dear Best friend’s Family,
After four years of friendship and memories, it is no surprise that your daughter/sister and I are as close as we are. We have walked weddings together, traveled to: Boston, New Haven, Gainesville, Utah, and all around Florida, and stolen clothes from each other’s closets, not to mention the answers to several homework assignments. However, I never thought that my bond with your daughter/sister would become a bond with your family, and for that I thank you. Thank you for all the sleepovers, Chipotle runs, family parties, Sephora visits, and most importantly your love, which is felt so deeply.
Mom and Dad: I write mom and dad because that is what I call you. It only makes sense since everyone else in your home does so too. First, thank you for raising my best friend. She would not be the caring, hilarious, smart and special person I love if it were not for something you guys did right. Thank you for the warm hugs every time I walk in through your front door ready to move in for couple days. Thank you for taking me in to your house for as many days as I wanted or needed and treating me just as one of the other girls. Thank you for sharing. Not only the popcorn at the movie; but your traditions, thoughts, and advice openly and freely. I really do try my best to listen to your advice but as you know my best friend and I often times think we are always right. You both have reinforced some of the same lessons my parents have taught me and I have tremendous respect for both you, mainly because it truly takes special people to deal with all four of us girls together in one place. Without you two as yet another set of parents my life would be a little more boring, no wild dad sightings, my Sophia Vergara impression would be lacking (here is to POOHMKIN), and most importantly my life would be a little less full of love.
My Sisters: I just wanted to let the two other girls that will be in my wedding know just how special they are to me. I always wanted a sister since I grew up with only a brother and then I hung out with you girls and that all changed…. Just Kidding. Thanks to you guys I get to live the best of both worlds. I get to have a brother every day and sisters a couple days every month. For me the best times with you two was helping out with homework, standing in line at the mall, watching TV together, walking the dogs, target trips and getting ready in one bathroom. I know they may be the small things but it is the small things that hold the biggest place in my heart. I am also grateful for the big moments of “Friendsmas” morning hugs, dreaming of getting a German Shepherd and naming it Derek (Derek Shepherd), texting each other, and our favorite past time taking embarrassing pictures. I think the reason I run out of storage on my phone is from all the ugly pictures we take. In those moments I feel that I get to know each of you individually and create my own relationship with each of you. You are much more than just my best friend’s sisters. In these moments I feel that I get to know each of you individually and create my own relationship with each of you. I hope you know you are so much more than just my best friend’s sisters but the adopted sisters I always wanted.
The aunts, uncles, and family friends: To the people who have walked in to our home, I mean my second- family’s home while I have been there. I would be discrediting so many of you if I did not mention you in this letter too. You have treated me just like another niece. Inviting me into your homes when my best friend is in town and cooking endless meals for me, I am now a Colombian food fan. For joking with me and taking an interest in my life even though we have seen each other sometimes only once. It is great to finally meet the people behind the pictures on the walls, the people my second- family spends times with. Thank you for letting me walk around in PJs, eat breakfast while still having crazy hair, and always liking and commenting on my Facebook pictures. The family parties would not be the same without you and our twenty person sleepovers a lot less exciting. Thank You!
Honestly, the time I spend with my bestfriend would not be the same if it were not for all of you. As I drive through Weston I cannot help but pass by your old house and think of all the memories we made there. However, visiting you now is much more of an adventure. You all make “Sarasatan” a lot more holy and enjoyable. Without you, my memories would be substantially less, love a little weaker and I would not know the fun fact that I would be fined $300.00 for hitting a bird with my car. Thanks for everything.
With so much love,
The girl that is always over at your house
