Dearest Carter,
You haven't been living in our apartment very long, and you haven't warmed up to me just yet, but I can safely tell you this already: I love you. And you're kind of strange.
Actually, you're extremely strange.
I've never lived with animals that weren't dogs or hermit crabs, and the latter only lived for like a month. You're not as energetic as a dog, but more entertaining than a cat, and I could watch you explore the living room for hours. Why do you rub your chin on everything? Why do you like glitter so much? And why won't you walk on hard wood floor? I have so many questions you're unable to answer, but I guess the next best thing is learning through watching, so I'll continue doing that.
I'll admit: You can get on my nerves, like all pets do. You're my roommate's rabbit, so you're all the fun of having a pet without any of the responsibility. But there are still times that drive me crazy, like finding your tiny poops either in between my toes or on my bedroom floor. And what's the fascination with chewing on shoes, Carter? I'll never understand.
But despite these select annoyances, your bubbly personality is something I can't help but admire. And, hey, what's wrong with being a little naughty? I always laugh when your mom, my roommate, tells me you jumped on her bed and peed. You're a troublemaker with a huge heart, what more could we want in a pet? Anything less than that would boring.
I wouldn't be lying if I said you were the softest thing I've ever felt. Like seriously, softer than velvet. Even though you scratch and stir, cuddling your tiny head and big body is very relaxing after a long day of classes. The subtle scrunching of your nose when you're trying to smell something familiar is too precious to even explain. You're adorable and entertaining. And in college, sometimes we just need a cute bunny to watch do simple things.
So, I just wanted to let you know how appreciated you are, Carter. Whether we're stressed over classes, annoyed at peers, or anything between, you never fail to make us smile. Shout-out to your mom for getting you, and shout-out to you for being a much needed member in our little college family.
Love, your auntie Kori
PS: Seriously. Please stop pooping wherever you feel like. I beg of you.
