Dear Women,
We live in a world where women are always expected to look like the models in a magazine. However, we all know the average women does not look like them, because of Photoshop and other retouching applications. For all of you who are more on the plus size side, like myself, I’m here to tell you that it’s OK.
First off, it’s important to love the skin you are in. Sometimes people get to the point where they feel the need to go to extreme measures to get the body they want, such as having surgery, while other people learn to embrace the body that they are in. Learn to flaunt your curves, no matter how different they look from everyone else’s.
Although not every plus sized woman has the same exact shape as well-known plus sized models like Ashley Graham, plus sized is plus sized, whether that means having a bigger chest or more thighs than your man knows how to handle. People come in many different shapes and sizes, and it’s about time people started to realize that. This especially applies to being plus sized, because some people have a certain image of how a plus sized woman should look. However, the truth is, plus sized has many different looks.
Living in today’s society while being plus sized teaches you that not everyone is going to like the way you look, but that’s OK, because there is someone out there for everyone. Believe it or not, there are people in the world who prefer their woman more on the curvier side. Just as some people prefer their significant other to be small, others prefer the exact opposite. Learn to be as confident as the different models you see in magazines because confidence is beautiful. There is truly nothing more beautiful than a woman who is confident in the way she looks.
Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you’re not beautiful! No matter what size you are, you will always be beautiful, and never let the way that other people feel about the way you look change your understanding of that. Always remember that confidence goes a long way. So next time you go into the store and try on that dress that you like, but don’t know if you would feel comfortable wearing out in public, buy it. Take the risk of letting people see how beautiful you are on the inside and on the outside.
I totally understand how difficult it can to be to shop around other people, but you have to learn to stop letting the opinions of other people affect your life. The only thing that matters is how you feel. So if you feel like you want to exercise more and change your eating habits, then by all means, put in the work, but if not? That’s OK, eat whatever you want and don’t worry about other people.
Just learn to love who you are. Don’t ever change unless you want to change.
Sincerely,
Another plus sized woman
