To the people who were in my life only for a season, thank you for everything you taught me, whether our time together was frivolous fun or drama filled, I left a stronger person, and I'm wiser. You taught me that it's all right for people to come and go in my life. You showed me that some people truly do have agendas for the betterment of themselves, and they don't care who they hurt in the process. But on the other hand, you taught me that laughter is a very strong anecdote against the trials of college and a sense of humor is your best friend.
To the people that hurt me, you taught me that it's all right to cry (crying is a common theme in college). You taught me that it's okay not to be okay. Whether you lied to me, treated me like crap, disrespected me or just took me granted, you helped me grow. You truly made every day a learning experience. I learned the types of people I want, and ultimately need, in my life, and I learned to be the best person I can be. I want you to know, whether the pain you put me through was for your own pleasure, or a reflection of your own pain, it gets better. And the "better" is the true friends you'll find throughout college.
To the people I now call my friends or best friends: I miss you guys like crazy. My life isn't the same without you at all, and it's actually quite boring. You taught me that lunch dates and hours spent in the library are very important. Whether we were eating at Zeus (amazing Greek restaurant on campus) or we were struggle-busing it to the cafeteria together, they were like clockwork and much appreciated. You taught me that when I no longer have the ability to believe in myself, I have you guys to push me along. I want to thank you for all the crazy memories we made together and will continue to make. I want to thank you for not judging me after I told you some of the outlandish, borderline-crazy things that I had done. I made mistakes, but you guys were there to help me see the bright side of any situation I got myself into. Thank you for all the love and support you showed me throughout the year, and thank you in advance for all the love I know you will show me in the future.
Ultimately, college wouldn't be college without the internal selection process you get to go through every day filtering through drones of students until you find people that you can call best friends and eventually your new family.
