I am not a strongly political person, but I do my best to stay educated in the matter. As most can tell, our upcoming election is pretty doomed in terms of our options of evil and less-evil, or so it seems that those are our options. But because most Americans are ignorant to the other options they have such as Gary Johnson and Jill Stein, two people I would actually trust to watch my kids, let alone my country. But I'm writing this not to convince people to vote for one person or another, but rather to open-minded, a rare characteristic in a world of people who are willing to die for their political opinions that are objectively incorrect.
I'd like to keep this short and sweet, simply something to mediate on. Whoever you or someone else in your life votes for, understand that you MUST respect their decision no matter who it is. You don't need to like their decision and you can even passively-aggressively delete them on Facebook and whatever social media you have them on, but a mature, open-minded person understands that getting angry over politics is a waste of breath and a low-brow thing to do.
If you want Trump in office, vote for him. As long as you intimately understand the facts behind your decision to vote for him, go for it. Same for Hillary. Your job as a voter is to fully comprehend the unbiased facts of your preferred candidate and act on them. Your job is also to not yell at that Trump or Hillary supporter, spouting dubiously cited sources for your backing, but to shut up and listen to why the other person thinks their decision is the best one. This is a trait of intelligent people as it allows them to fully understand the mindset of the person they are conversating with and then either debunk the other person argument or realize the other person may have a point. This is more important than your political opinions, as this translates to other arguments you may have with others.
