Dear Mom and Dad's Bestfriends,
It has been said that, "friends become our chosen family." Although I did not choose you guys, my parents did, and I wouldn't want it any other way. They chose exactly right. For that, I am forever grateful. I used to believe family was only a term to describe those who were blood related to us. However, I now realize it is much much more than that.
Family, to me, is those who are loving and caring towards you no matter the circumstance. Family is those who guide you in the right direction and cheer you on as you stumble through life. Family includes the people that want to see you happy and love to watch you grow. To me, you guys are family.
Although I am not your actual child, I am treated as if I am. I know that you are only a phone call or a text away. I know that I can come to you with advice and rely on you to help me through the toughest of times. I have learned a lot from you.
While watching your friendship with my parents, I learned how to be a friend. I understood how to put others first. I was taught kindness and compassion. I realized what it means to love unconditionally. This is all because of how you have treated me and my family.
My parents and I may end up in the casual fight, but you are always there to be the mediator. You give it to us straight and help us through any speed bump along the way. As an outsider, you make me realize my faults and help me to correct them.
You have given our family so many laughs and good times. I have grown into such a fun loving person due to watching the fun you guys have with each other. Your bond seems to be unbreakable and I can only hope to have such great friends that emulate your relationship with my parents when I become your age.
Thank you for keeping my mom and dad sane, because without you guys to vent to, I'm sure they would have wanted to kill me by now. Thank you for accompanying us on family vacations, trips, concerts, etc. Your presence is always something I cherish. Thank you for making me feel like I have multiple people I can go to for anything. Thank you for allowing me look up to such great role models.
I am blessed to say I have such a wonderful family. Not only do I have those who are blood related, but also those who aren't. I cherish each and every one of you more than you will ever know. There is never a dull moment in life with you guys. Family parties/trips have become a riot. Life is so fun when you're around.
Lastly, I just want you to know that your love for my family does not go unnoticed. You are apart of my large extended family. I have so many great memories of all the times we have shared together. Cheers to many, many more.
