To The Overbearing Opinions

A letter to those who voice their opinion too strongly.

Let me just come out and talk about the most controversial topic of the decade: Trump vs Clinton. Politics is enough to start a family fight at dinner. College students are buzzing about the topic and its great to generate interest and opinions on this topic! It is important, because we are responsible for who is the next POTUS (President of the United States). We are responsible for who gets elected into office. However, there is one way to voice your opinion, and then there is another way (aka the right way). Just hear me out!

You know that family member on Facebook that always posts and comments on your pictures and timeline. Yes, I'm sure you all have one! Now, don't be like him/her! As much as I love watching editing Trump videos of him saying "China" a million times over, I don't enjoy watching slanderous videos. We all know about the horrible things Trump and Clinton has said and done, but sadly that has nothing to do with how they are going to run this country! The whole campaign has been based off of "he said, she said" comments. Some are true, yes, but again, how does that have anything to do with their views and politics? So, please do yourself a favor and don't post ignorant videos or pictures with your input in the comments. I'm not saying that an occasional video or picture is inappropriate, I'm saying that multiple posts in a week is flat out overbearing and annoying.

Here I present to you "China" by Donald Trump.

I am not writing this article to pass judgement on our candidates or to reveal my political views, I'm writing this for all of those people who are afraid to tell you what we all have been thinking for the whole election. That is: stop posting and sharing pointless, slanderous posts on social media! If your family and friends don't already know your political views, they do now! You may feel upset or embarrassed by your actions, that is the initial reaction! It will all be okay! We are just going to take a little time to have a one-on-one intervention (it's three simple steps!)

First step to recovery: Do not press the share button. Just don't do it! We already know your opinion loud and clear. Either your wanting to "Make America Great Again" or you are "With Her", we get it! Just know that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but yours can tone down a bit!

Second step to recovery: Don't be rude! Other people may post or share things that make your blood boil with rage. (Apparently, they haven't read this article. Feel free to share it with them!) Resist all urges to make your comment sound stupid and ignorant. If you have an educated comment backed up on research, then feel free to comment. However, for those who don't have backed up information, do not hit enter! You may think, "How will I possibly be able to advocated for my party effectively?" Simple answer, you will do it the smart way! You will not stoop to the level of those beneath you ("the overbearing opinionaters"). Did I just make up that term? Maybe, but it applies! Basically, if you have a super intelligent comment to add, you will stump those who essentially know nothing about their candidate! They will be dumb founded and the argument will seize to exist. Of course with you being the winner!

Third step to recovery: Vote and be done with it already! See, if you are so passionate about your candidate; vote! Then you won't have the option to let the slanderous videos and uneducated posts change your mind! You will have already made a difference in the election one way or another. Then from there, you have influenced our futures! Yay for you!

Here's some other potential ideas if your heart bleeds red, white, and blue (and you just can't make it stop): make a Facebook group of those interested in your opinions and videos (Republican or Democrat based), positively encourage people to go vote (without mentioning your personal views or political party), or have a discussion in person (your stupid remarks won't be saved on your page forever! If you are lucky, your argument opponent will forget them!).

Now if you feel like this article doesn't apply to you, feel free to be "savage" and share it with someone who would benefit from reading it! You will forever be thanked in the eyes of your family and friends. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading my very unbiased and appropriate opinion! Hopefully you are well equipped to better address your opinion and to help your fellow friends to do so as well!

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
