I'd like to take a moment to tell you how important you are in my life.
Although you are not considered my mother in a biological sense, you are most definitely in every other. A mother is a strong woman who teaches us to be everything we can dream of being and helps us to aspire to be someone like you. A mother is a caring woman who is there with advice during life's biggest (and what seems like the biggest) situations. A mother is there to lend a listening ear, open arms and a warm heart. Without a mother, who would we turn to? How would we have gone on without you? What kind of person would I have become without your guidance and support? You have had a major impact on the person I am today. The only thing I hope is that I make you proud. You've spent days at a time providing me with what I needed so I can be a well-rounded, and mostly functioning human in society.
So, I would like to thank you.
Thank you for your dedication to someone that is not considered your legitimate son/daughter. For opening up such an honorable spot in your heart to call me your child around your friends/family. When I needed a shoulder to cry on over the latest high school drama I was sucked into. For cheering me on at all my events, even when I did not do my best. For when I stressed over finals, and you came in with the butt-kicking attitude to keep me going forward. When I needed help deciding between life's hardest decisions (all ranging from what to eat or what college to attend). Thanks for answering my calls/texts/skype even if it was so I can just sense your comfort. Thank you for making such an impact that is so indescribable that nothing on this letter can really put it into perspective.
What the future holds, I am unsure; but I know that you will be there with me every step of my journey. I am strong and learning my way now, but that is all thanks to you. Don't get me wrong, I will have my days when I will need you to visit me for a lunch date. I am just no longer worried about what lies ahead, because even if I fall, I know you're there to catch me.
