Right now you guys are wide-eyed dreamers with no care in the world. You think the word 'impossible' is an imaginary friend made by adults who were just afraid. You see no bad in the world, only when you get in trouble or things don't exactly go your way. The beauty of it all is that you don't' know it yet, but these are some of the best times of your life. So please, my sweet,sweet bairn...don't grow up. It's too scary up here.

This is my letter to you. All of the hopes and dreams I pray God lets you achieve and all of the experiences that will make you who you are. I hope they treat you well and I can't wait to watch it all happen.

I have picked my mind over and over to figure out what all to say to you guys and only a few thoughts seem to resurface. This leads me to assuming that these are the most important- for now at least. My presence in your life is never going to stray so if this is too short or just doesn't cover enough time, another letter will debut soon enough. So if I had to break down life in just a short list, this is what I would tell you from my nineteen trips around the sun.

1. Never stop looking for the best in people

I am one of those who believe that no matter what someone has done that there is apart of them that is still worth fighting for. This has led me to heartbreak and discouragement that has made me into a stronger person. This aching is something I would never wish on you two, but that sense of believing is one that I beg God to protect inside of you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with looking for someone's best, but don't ever expect or demand it. You will meet some people who are going through challenging times at your time of acquaintance. If you guys are like me, you will automatically start digging for their best version of themselves only to find the havoc that is change and confusion. Please darlings, don't loose yourselves in this. You can't save everyone but never stop believing that its worth a shot.

2. Always stay optimistic

You're going to meet people in life that are always down and out about something. This isnt something you can change, but you can change your own outlook. Whether its hoping for sun on a rainy day or that something goes a certain way, always look to the bright side and hope for the best. The term 'Negative Nancy' is one I use often for someone who accepts that something isn't going to happen or just assumes it won't. Your life is going to be filled with these types of people and you can't let them get you down. So keep hoping and keep looking for the best. Just remember that no matter what they say, staying optimistic is always a better road to take.

3.No guy is every worth it

You will hear what I am about to say a thousand times by a thousand different people, but as your aunt you can fully trust me. As much as it kills me to write this, I know that one day a boy is going to spark your interest. You will dream about his eyes and the way his hair is always messy and the way he smiles or winks at you. You will laugh with your friends about what he said to you or the way he brushed past you in the hall. Everything he does will send butterflies racing through the entirety of your being. This is all fun and exciting but if you don't believe anything else I say, please believe this. You are a beautiful and perfect work of God and NO ONE, I mean NO ONE has the right to make you believe otherwise. You may think he is the one and that there is no one else, but he's not and there is. Don't let a boy tell you that something is wrong with you and try to change yourself because of it. Because guess what? While you're suffering through heartbreak, God is busy preparing the man you will spend the rest of your life with and he is beautiful. The two of you have a perfect example of this right in front of you. Your parents. Im sure you will hear their story time and time again, so I'm not going to type it all out. However, when in doubt...if a boy doesn't measure up to your father...he isn't good enough for you.

4. There is one male who ALWAYS is.

As I've grown up, I've always known that God existed and that He's the reason for all that we have. As you guys grow up, you're going to know this as well. But at some point you're also going to have doubts and questions and that's okay. Don't be afraid to ask these questions because that's how you learn and that's how you're going to realize how great our Heavenly Father is. If you are every hurting or have something bothering you that you don't want anyone else to know about, take it to God. He is ALWAYS listening and he ALWAYS hears your prayers. Some of those prayers may go unanswered because God has a greater plan for you. He knows what you need and what you must do without in order to stay on the path he has prepared for you. Just know one thing, God knows what is best for you and He is ALWAYS there even when it seems like He isn't. No matter how far you stray from Him, or how long you go without speaking to Him, He is always just a prayer away. The best thing about it? He will never judge you, always forgive you and His love for you is far greater than anything on this earth can compare to.

5. You are beautiful

If there is one thing that I hate the most about the world is that we are cursed to live in a society that values looks over self-worth. The two of you are going to face this at some point in your life- preferably later than sooner. You are going to be told that you're too tall, too short, your feet are too big, your stomach isn't flat enough and a million other things that hurt you and make you feel bad about yourself. Let me be the first to tell you that these are all lies. God created each of us in his own image and this alone makes every single one of us perfect. Despite me telling you this, I know what it is like to grow up in this society and I know that me telling you this isn't going to make everything better. So as you grow through this, just know that I am here. If you need absolutely anything, I am more than willing to help without judgement or questions. I just pray that you guys aren't subjected to the pain and self-loathing that this world is known for. Because no matter what anyone says, you are beautiful just the way you are.

What I have written is just a speck of all the things I hope to teach the two of you one day. I know there will be times where you wont always believe the things I've said or will think that no one knows what you're going through. Just know that life happens and there are always at least a thousand things around you to learn. Never stop learning and never stop believing that there is good in the world, because as long as you do...you will leave a hint of magic where ever you go.
