An Open Letter To My New Pledge Class

Dear PC '16,

Hey! I'm one of your many new sisters. I am just as excited about this as all of you are. I know we're all showing it differently, but I also know we are all beyond psyched to be invited into this amazing chapter. I can already tell we will be best friends and the next three and a half years together will be absolutely incredible. We were all hand-picked by the older members for a reason, and I am so glad to have been chosen with you awesome girls by my side.

I can't wait for you to learn more about me. The getting to know you games have really helped to see who a lot of you are. Even though there were some of you I knew previously and some of you I didn't, I love you all equally and am truly enjoying all the time we are already spending together. You have already opened up to me so much and trusted me to be your friend and accept you for who you are, and for that, I thank you. I hope you all know I am doing the same. Breaking down your walls and letting so many new people in such a short time is hard, but I know we can do it.

Thanks for being my new lab partner. Thanks for helping me with my homework. Thanks for sitting with me in lecture. Thanks for having the GroupMe blow up 24/7 so when I leave my phone to shower for 10 minutes I miss 450 messages. Thanks for the late night Chipotle dates and the inside jokes. Thanks for already making me laugh and cry and fall in love.

I know we look up to the older girls and are anxious to be as close as they are. We have a lot of work to do, but I have faith that we will soon all be in sync. Soon we will all be each other's best friends, first priorities, and above all else, sisters. We will be roommates, goofballs, study partners, lunch dates and so much more. I already brag that my PC is full of my best friends for life and I have only known you for a week.

We are already so dedicated to loving each other and loving our sorority. I don't think anything could go wrong. I smile when I think about the amazing times we have ahead together and am excited for every philanthropy event, social, formal, and sleepover with you guys by my side. I now know who my truest friends are, and I will love you forever.

I am already loving our present and can't wait for what the future holds.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
