The long overdue "Thank you!" that still doesn't seem to cover everything.

An Open Letter To My Person

To "my person:"

You know who you are (I hope), and I can't possibly thank you enough. Thank you for all that you are. Thank you for being you. Thank you for everything you do for me. I know I screw up a lot, and I know I make a lot of mistakes, but for some reason, you're always there. I don't really know what I would do without you or where I would be. One thing I do know for sure, however, is that I'm beyond thrilled that I can call you "my person."

Who else can I count on to order pizza with me in the middle of the night and won't judge how much I eat? Or who will make me chicken noodle soup when I'm sick? (you should know it tastes better when you microwave it)

Thanks for taking my 4 a.m. phone calls when I couldn't sleep, for visiting me at work and for bringing me coffee in the morning after I had a long night of studying. Thank you for being there to rescue me from sticky situations. You are the one person I know I can count on for anything. I know you'll be my shoulder to cry on whenever I need you, and you'll never hesitate to wipe the tears from my face. I know that when I need to vent about something, you always lend your ear.

The things we do together have a special place in my heart. There, I keep all of the memories. I'll never forget them. Thank you for all of the inside jokes and laughter. I appreciate that you laugh at my jokes, even though they aren't funny. You may not know it, but you've made a huge, positive impact on my life. I don't know where or who I would be without you.

Thank you for loving me even when I'm not so lovable and for caring about me. Thank you for the reassuring words when things don't exactly go as planned. Thank you for making me feel important and loved. Thank you for making me happy, for supporting me in all that I do and for having my back. Thank you for picking me up when I fall, for being proud of me and for comforting me when I'm sad. Most importantly, thank you for being my friend. You've never given up on me, and I couldn't be more grateful.

Thank you for being the person I can call whenever I need someone to talk to. You're extremely important to me, and I'm so glad I met you. I'm so greatly blessed to have you in my life. You're an amazing person. Thank you for being "my person."

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
