Dear Mom and Dad,
I feel as if I do not say thank you enough. Recently I have been thinking about my life, the person that I am today and everything that I have, and I realized I am who I am because of you both. Through all of your sacrifices and endless love you have shown me, I have been able to succeed in life thus far and I am beginning to create my own life for myself. There have been a few more bumps than usual in the road lately, and I know it has been hard on the whole family, but especially the two of you. That is why I just want to say thank you now and remind you both of how special and amazing you are to me.
Dad, the superhero of the family. When something is broken you just magically know how to fix it. When my car is making the slightest strange noise, I immediately call you because I know that you will be able to calm me down and tell me there is nothing to worry about. But when there is an actual issue, you drop everything and drive out to wherever I am to take a look at it and luckily, know how to fix the problem. You’re as stubborn as a mule and I thank you for giving me that quality, even if it makes us butt heads sometimes! I have secretly always loved our debates. I was also lucky enough to inherit your sense of humor, and I really do love your silly jokes and how you can act like one of my friends. You just always know how to put a smile on my face even during my saddest or most stressed out times, and I thank you for that. Thank you for always supporting me in all my endeavors. I would have given up several times on my dreams if it were not for your encouragement. It has always been the running joke in the family that I am the “princess.” Well I cannot deny it anymore that you absolutely treat me as a princess so thank you for that as well! All in all, thank you for being my own personal superhero, working so hard to give me an amazing life and being a man that I truly look up to.
Mom, the caretaker of the family. Since the day we were all born, your job has first and foremost always been being a mom, and it is clear to see this through all of your actions. But you are more than just a mom. You are my nurse, shopping partner, advice guru and my best friend wrapped up all into one. You just always seem to have all the answers. Even now when I am away at school, you can tell me exactly what to do to get over my latest sickness without even being physically with me. Somehow, I still have laundry and cooking questions that you will gladly answer for me, no matter the time of the day. Then when I come home, I really do look forward to being able to relax with you on the couch eating some junk food and watch our favorite TV shows all day. I never told you but those are my favorite days during my breaks. I also look forward to our phone calls during the week where I can fill you in on the latest gossip. Thank you for always listening to my problems and helping me make the best decisions. You always put everyone else’s well-being before your own, and that just shows how much of a caring person you genuinely are. Thank you for always wiping my tears and hugging me until I am strong enough to let go. Our house would literally be falling apart and we would probably all starve if it weren’t for you as well. You have taught me never to under estimate my self worth and I would like you to do the same, especially now.
Finally to you both, thank you for allowing me to have such a close relationship with my parents. I feel blessed knowing what a great relationship I have with each of you. Thank you for all that you have given me and provided for me by working so hard. Thank you for being such great role models and being perfect examples of the type of parent I may want to be someday. You are both my rock and number one fans. Most importantly, thank you for supporting me in my passion of riding. I would never be where I am today had it not been for you guys making the countless trips back and forth to the barn, coming to every horse show and financially supporting my expensive hobby. Because of you, I will always get right back on when I fall, and that applies to anything in life. I hope this could remind you both of what amazing people you are and make your day a little brighter. I love you, Mom and Dad!
Love always,
Mac
