Jordan Thompson said it best when he wrote: “I'm offended that everyone is offended by something!” Jordan, your article was insightful and highlighted what may, arguably, be one of the biggest problems in this country. And by the way, sir, let me be upfront for a second and say, God bless you. Thank you for your service. This country would not be great without men and women like you risking your lives. Allow me also to apologize. I'm sorry you serve such a crappy, unappreciative and disconnected generation who see nothing, but the loads of crap that come up on their newsfeeds.

Apparently saying “God bless our troops, they are the real heroes” is offensive when comparing the monumental sacrifices our men and women in the armed forces make, to a man who has sacrificed absolutely nothing in his quest to become a woman (Bruce Jenner).

I wish my generation would just shut up and stop spreading their idiotic “I’m offended” rants, which breed further stupidity and argument. It's clear that the majority of the things going on in this world are made worse by people who find a way to make it their personal vendetta to be offended at everything. They often find injustice in things that aren’t applicable to the problem, or mean something completely different from the argument they have made. Everyone is offended by something, and it's unbelievable that we can't just live in a world where everyone minds their own business, and accepts other's beliefs.

For example, look at the Confederate flag. A flag used by a “country” in battle that doesn’t exist anymore. That is all. It's not some representation of slavery and oppression, but instead, an old, nonexistent, broken country's flag.

Allow me to also quickly disassemble your argument against the South. Slavery wasn’t an isolated issue in the South. It was very prevalent in the North, as well, and if there were freed slaves in the North, they were not treated equally. The whole time period and country was messed up.

Also, how has the flag affected you in your 20 to 30 years on this earth? I will answer that for you: in no way, shape or form. I'm not in any way condoning racism, but with seven billion people on this earth, racist people will happen, whether you like it or not.

Also, they may use the American flag, Islamic flag, Confederate flag -- heck, maybe even a gay pride flag! Either way, if you are going to allow people to step on the American flag and degrade your country's flag, then you might as well let them fly the Confederate flag because it falls under the same category of freedom of speech. Not sure if my generation has heard of that, or any of the Amendments for that matter because the 27 Amendments don’t fit into a 140-character tweet. Why don’t you take a stand on problems that affect other people instead of problems that you “think” affect other people, when in reality, they don’t.

The issues we face in society are as diverse as the people who live in it. I understand everyone’s quest for change, but we need to focus on the issues that affect us directly. For example: the pollution in our oceans, the thousands of innocent people who will be killed by the Islamic State, our soldiers -- without them, this country wouldn’t be free and safe -- or any number of other real issues that we can unite to change.

The issue with the Confederate flag is such a small one, and has no relation to what happened in South Carolina. The South did not shoot innocent people; a young racist child with a chip on his shoulder did. By using the shootings in South Carolina as a backing to your argument as to why we should ban the Confederate flag, you are using those who have died as the mascots for a cause that’s not worth the time, effort and turmoil you have created. Instead, you should provide aid and condolences to the families and church community that were affected.

Can we as a generation get it together? Stop yolo’ing, stop tweeting so much, and stop creating drama. Experience something new, and continue to challenge yourself mentally by learning beyond your boundaries and physically by taking better care of your body.

Take a stand on real issues. Become more productive and forgo laziness because no one who was lazy ever accomplished anything worth talking about. Sit down and get to know people instead of sending a text. Thank a soldier. I, seriously, can't stress that enough because we take our freedom for granted.

Lastly, be considerate to others on your journey through life.
