Freshman year of college is a new, exciting, and slightly scary part of your life. For some people, it's a time for them to start over and reinvent themselves, while for some it is a chance for them to grow as a person and go outside of their comfort zone. No matter which college you go to, whether it's down the road or states away, it's a huge step forward in your life. For that fact, I decided to write a letter to my freshman year, and what I hope for it to be.
To my freshman year,
I hope you're all I want you to be and more. I hope this next year is filled with amazing people, countless memories, and nothing but happiness. Whenever I look back on this year, I hope to smile and think of all the fun things that happened. I hope to meet people who bring nothing but joy to my life, and friends that will last beyond college. While I know there will be hard times throughout the year, I hope the good outweigh the bad. I don't want to look back and think of the one test I failed, but rather I want to be able to think of the night I stayed up until two in the morning with some of my best friends at college.
I hope to come out of my comfort zone. While I am a pretty outgoing person, I want to go beyond and push myself. The night that all my friends want to go driving around, I hope I choose to go, no matter how tired I am or how bad I want to stay in. I hope to live in the moment, and even though I may make a few mistakes and bad decisions along the way, I know they will be worth it in the end.
I hope to find my new home, and to fall in love with it. I love college already, but I do miss my hometown a lot. I hope to find the comfort I had there over this next year and find my place here at college. I hope to come out of freshman year knowing this is where I belong, and I want to be filled with nothing but pure happiness with where I am.
So freshman year, I hope you live up to the many expectations that I have. If not, that's okay, because I still have three other years. Hopefully, when I look back at this letter once the year is over, I am able to say that this was a year for the books.
Love, me
