Around three years ago our love story began. At the time we were both looking for colleges as well as ourselves. Love was a distant fantasy, but some how it found us any way. So this is for you.
We met the same way my parents did, working at the local grocery store. You caught my attention right away, not because of your bright blue eyes or purple sweater but because your sass level was almost equal to mine. Our inside jokes grew as you were forced to bag the food items I was throwing at you.
As graduation grew closer we began to grow apart, both getting ready for the next chapter of our lives that was college. That was until you did what any twenty first century boy would do and Facebook messaged me.
During our first time hanging out our awkward small talk turned into light flirting and for some reason I agreed to hang out again. Before I knew it I began to fall for you and your dorky charm.
The night things changed for us was when all of our plans got washed away in the massive rainstorm. You were bound and determined to make the most of it anyway. You kissed me in your car with the rain pounding on the roof just before the battery died from running your air condition while your engine was off. Your parents had to jump start it for us, but I wouldn’t of wanted the night to go any differently.
After that night, I broke my pact with my mom of no dating until college and the rest of our summer was a blur in your arms.
During our first year of college we struggled with many things. Roommates, grades and jobs, just to name a few but the 19.2 miles between our schools was the worst part. But you were always my rock telling me I could make it through. I would count down to the weekend where I knew I got to spend it with you.
I will never forget the countless memories we have made together over the past two years at school. From our Netflix marathons, adventures around the city or slow dancing in my room late at night, there was never a dull moment.
Among those moments, we have had so many firsts, and I can’t imagine what it would be like with out you by my side. We have pushed each other to expand ourselves to try new things and get involved in our communities. We have watched each other grow into young adults and I hope we continue to grow old together.
So as we come up on to two official years of dating, I would like to thank you for all the big, as well as the small, moments we have shared. Our love story is still young and has many years to go but one thing is for sure I will love and look forward to each and every second of it with you.
