Dear Self,
I've been thinking a lot lately about growing up, and how different everything is in college. The more I thought about, the more I realized that even though I have regrets from high school, that I wouldn't go back and change anything. So instead of sitting and thinking about the mistakes I've made, I made a list of things that I wanted to remind myself for the past, present, and the future.
1. Don't sweat the small stuff.
The problems that you're dealing with aren't the end of the world. You are bigger than whatever challenges you're facing. I know things might sometimes feel like the end of the world, but truly, you will move past it. And the best part is, that someday you'll look back on these trials and tribulations and know that you made it out alive. Don't be afraid, little one.
2. Invest in friendships.
Friendships are the roots of life. You wouldn't be exactly where you are today without the fearless guidance, unending love, and hours of laughter that your friends provide. Invest in your friendships little one. They are the foundation of your life. You should never half-ass anything, especially not the precious relationships that you create with the people around you. Let your friends care about you. Let them love you. They're in your life for a reason. They love you. They care about you. They want to watch to succeed.
3. Trust God.
God is good. No matter what happens in your life, good or bad, just know that God is in control. He loves you with an abundance of sweet, pure, and unending compassion. You were created in His image. Isn't it incredibly special that God looks upon you every second of every day and thinks, "She is the most beautiful. She is the most pure. I love her without any strings. I love her for every reason that she is." You are so special to Him that he laid down His one and only son for you. Trust your life in His hands. He only has the very best plans for your life.
4. Focus more on your inner radiance, and less on your physical beauty.
Inner beauty creates outer radiance. Smile more. When you look at someone who is genuinely happy with their life, no matter their outer appearance, they are beautiful. You are beautiful. Hold yourself with confidence. God doesn't create anything that ugly. God only creates beauty. You were made to strut this Earth and wow the world with your incredible personality.
5. It goes on.
If there's one way that I can sum up life, it's that life goes on. Be bold. Live fearlessly, and without abandon.
