Dear Sweet Girl,
I know how it feels.
I have been where you are, and some days, I still feel that way.
I know how it feels to finally feel like you have found a friend or group of friends who make it seem like you will be best friends forever. You spend countless days and nights together; you have endless inside jokes and can make each other laugh at the drop of a hat. You tell them anything and everything, and you feel like you have each other's backs. I know that amazing feeling.
I also know how it feels when a day comes and something changes. It is always very subtle, and usually goes unnoticed. One day comes and you just don't talk anymore. You see them hanging out and doing everything you all used to together, and it's in that moment you realize you were just a phase in their group's relationship. You remember the days they sought you out to go places and wanted to talk to you when they broke up with their boyfriend for the 10th time. You still laugh at the jokes and remember the nights you spent having heart to hearts. Everything you all had in your friendship is still there, and I know it hurts to see them do those same things with one small piece missing: You.
But it gets better. Trust me, sweetheart, it does. You find a friend who doesn't see you as a phase and gives you the type of friendship you have always wanted. The type of friendship you have always given but never gotten in return. You form a relationship with this girl, and you know that she will be in your wedding one day. She will be there for you and your family, even if you don't live in the same city. She can tell you are upset just by one look at your face. She knows that whenever you have had a horrible day, all you want is to go to your place and binge-watch chick flicks and eat chocolate, and she is perfectly OK with that because she is the same way. This friendship is a true gift, and once you find it, always cherish it.
The feeling you had when you realized you had lost those friends never really goes away, but it becomes a mere shadow in the light of what a true friend is to you. So push through, pretty girl. Friends will always come and go, but you will know when you have found your forever friend. You will know when you have found your person.
Love,
The girl who Found her Forever Friend
