To The Girl Who's Afraid She'll Never Love Again:
Looking at yourself now, you probably wonder what's wrong with you. All those emotions you used to feel, and what now? Nothing, negativity and nothing. Maybe you've tried relationships since the one that has you stuck, and they just fell flat. You're over your ex (or maybe not) and you should be able to move on, find someone new, and fall for them all over again. Right?
It's never that easy. And that's okay.
Don't stress yourself out. Just because you don't feel anything now doesn't mean you never will. If you feel overwhelmed about it, take a deep breath. Feelings take time to regenerate, especially because you spent almost all your positive ones on someone else. They didn't deserve you, and you know that now, or you should. But don't worry: everyone makes mistakes, and it's okay.
Remember not to force yourself. If you fake it for anyone, the only thing that will ensue is hurt. It will hurt you as you continue to fake feelings for a person who's falling for you and will hurt them (maybe even more) when they realize what they've been getting themselves into isn't matched even a little bit. I know you feel lonely right now, but getting into a relationship with even the slightest chance of leftover feelings will only be damaging.
Don't be afraid to talk about it. You're hurting, and you shouldn't have to hurt alone. Almost everyone understands the feeling of wanting to be in a relationship, and your close friends should support you no matter what. Reach out to them when you feel particularly lonely, and when they make you laugh it'll be easier to get through what you're dealing with.
Get out there again. Even if it's just tagging around with friends, don't be afraid to let your eyes wander anymore. It'll take some practice, but once you start appreciating things again it'll make fully moving on that much easier. Your friends can help with this, as well. This can be hard at first, but once you get comfortable in your skin again things will start looking up.
The most important thing to remember is that eventually, you'll find someone again. It might take a long time, but you will. You'll find someone who makes you smile without an effort and wants to hold you close, someone who gives you butterflies you never thought you'd feel again. Don't be scared when this happens -- go with it, and I promise everything will turn out okay.
I hope you don't think there's something wrong with you because you're perfect.
Sincerely,
The Girl Who Felt The Same Way
