Dear Old Best Friends,
I am so excited to spend the next school year with my roommate. Although we have just met, I feel like we are so close.
I love how my roommate and I have the same major and minor, which was completely unplanned. I love how we have the same sense of style. And, I appreciate how she does not hinder me from expressing myself, just as you guys did.
She is an excellent source of stability and she helps me remember things just like you did, which is nice because lord knows I would lose my head if it was not attached to my body. She is already keeping me on track, in daily conversation, and helping me focus and calm down even when I am clearly overwhelmed. It is very nice and calming to know that she accepts me for who I am as you guys did.
She is also the same type of messy that I am, which is perfect because it is not too much, but it is also not clean freak mania up in here. We even like the same shows on Netflix.
She has already given me some great advice and helps me navigate around campus. Seriously, you guys know I have no sense of direction considering I tap on your face/shoulder or window when giving directions in the car. Good thing we do not really have to drive a lot here because I cannot handle giving directions.
However, I do miss you guys very much. There is just something so weird about having to explain certain things to my new friends like our school mascot. I also can no longer reference things like the fourth grade and freshman year without going into the long and involved back story, which I am sure they are not prepared to handle yet. I cannot thank you enough for being my best friends throughout the duration of high school.
College is a really weird in a sense that I keep seeing people from high school, but what can you expect when you go literally 30 minutes away from home? It is only weird because I am not seeing you guys, but these random people who I wish I were not here. Hopefully, I will be the right kind of weird for my new friends.
I hope your new friends are super awesome, as well. I also hope that they appreciate you as much as I do. Whether it be for your obscure food choices, love of cows, appreciation of tea, immense love for the color yellow, passion for race relations or super sick craft skills.
I am having loads of fun with my new roomie. I cannot wait to tell you about all of our new adventures through snail mail. I can already tell that we are going to be great friends. So, do not worry about me because I am having a great time in college so far!
Love you so much,
Taren
