An Open Letter To The Friends I Made My Freshman Year

I want to start off by saying thank you. Thank you for being there for me when I was so homesick and when I considered transferring. Thank you for being there when that boy you told me to stay away from broke my heart again and again. You have been my rock through all the hard times this year when I couldn't be home with my family, and I can't even tell you how much I appreciate it. You have helped me grow into the adult that I am proud to be.

Even though we have only known each other for a few short months, I feel like I have known you for years. We have laughed and we have cried. We have had great times as well as some pretty rough ones. But through all that, I can say I have met one of my best friends. The adventures we have been on are ones I will always remember.

Knowing nobody in a new place can be overwhelming, and you helped make it so much easier. From inviting me to go home with you to your parents including treats for me, it meant so much. Thank you for always being there when I was upset and just holding me and letting me cry. I know you know I would do the same, but it still means so much. Thank you for being my family at my games; the support you gave me was almost as good as my mom's ... almost. Thank you for putting up with me when I got flustered and kept complaining. I'm sure it got annoying, but you were always there to listen. It really helped, and I truly appreciate it. Thank you for taking care of me when I was ill; seriously, you're a great friend. Let's just say I am so glad I met you.

Thinking about leaving you for the summer is hard because I have spent every day for the last few months able to walk down the hall to see you. You are my family away from home, and I'm going to miss you so much. I can't wait to see where the next three years takes us, but I know that they're going to be the best years of our lives, and I can't wait to spend them with you.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
