Dear Best Friend,
Well your birthday is over and I did not get to spend it with you. We are both in different states finding ourselves and fulfilling our dreams. I wish I could have been there when you turned 22 like I was there for most of your birthdays in the past. Since college we have not been able to spend birthdays together and it is a horrible thing since we are best friends.
I wish I could’ve gone out with you and get all the free stuff. I wish we could have taken way too many pictures. I wish I could have just been there with you when you turned from a 21-year-old to a 22-year-old. With each passing birthday, I think of all the things we could have done together to celebrate but we can’t.
RELATED:To the Person Who Has No Time For Love
I laugh at people who say, “I wish I could live with my best friend.” I laugh because our parents actually let us live together in high school. I think of how lucky we were to have such great parents to let us do that! There are so many people who say they are going to get matching tattoos with their best friends, we already did that! You bought mine for me as a Christmas gift, now whether you like it or not, you are stuck with me, I have a tattoo that has an infinite sign to prove it.
You lived in Korea for a year and our friendship lasted throughout. You called me at the most random of times and the calls were not that long. But I loved them. They meant the world to me that I was one of the few people you took the time to call. You were at my baptisim and conformation even though you were not Lutheran. You support me in all that I do, and you know I do the same for you. Our parents love us, yet complain to each other how awful we are together because of how lazy we get. They know we both work hard and when we are with each other we are able to relax.
You are an aunt to my cat, you calm me down when things get to be too much, you are there for me when you need to be. You are my home, my safe place, my happy place, I never want to lose you in my life. I am your freak and you are my weirdo and we are freaken weird and we love it. I do not want to get married because then I would have to live with some boy and not my best friend in the world.
We have been best friends since I transferred to your middle school in the eighth grade. I am forever thankful I left my old school because I got to meet one of my favorite people in the world, you. I love you with all that I have and like Kelly Clarkson says, “my life would suck without you.” It is true, actually my world would probably end if it didn’t have you in it. We are dependent on each other, we encourage each other, we love each other. We also know too much about each other which means you can never leave me. I hope that 22 is the best year of your life because we will both be graduating and then seeing where life will take us.
Love Always,
Your weirdo
