To my best friends from birth (as known as my siblings),
Thank you for being forced into friendship with me. Being close to you guys has made me value family as much as friends. I know that no matter where I am in my life I will always have a best friend in you guys. You are the few people I can be 100 percent of myself with. You are the people who have gone through experiences with me that no one else has. No one else will ever know how painful all those long car rides to visit family were or how much fun it is to go to our Grandparent’s lake. Thank you for binge watching TV shows with me and getting way too attached to the characters. I am sorry for all the times I sang loudly and off key in the shower while you were still asleep. I am sorry for all the times I was selfish and threw you under the bus and blamed you when we would get in trouble. Thank you to my older sibling for going head first into new life events and teaching what to and what not to do. Thank you for being the guinea pig. You are one of the best and most important role models I have in my life. You have set such a high standard that it has always pushed me to achieve more. To my younger sibling, I’m sorry. I have found every possible way to pick on you and prove my dominance. Thank you for still loving me. Giving you life advice is one of my favorite things. I am sorry that it had to take our older sibling to leave for us to get closer, but I am glad we have. Overall, I am so happy to be stuck with you two and you guys will forever and always be my best friends.
To my high school best friend,
You were there during for one of the most crucial parts of my life. With you, I got to do the most stereotypical things best friends are supposed to do like go to the mall, go to football games, and have sleepovers. Most of my best memories are with you. High school is the time that begins to determine your future. Thank you for making sure I stay on track for a healthy future and did not fall astray. Thank you for pushing me out of my comfort zone by forcing me to go out and meet new people. Thank you for essentially being the exact same person as me and being able to finish every thought I have. Thank you for being my chauffer when I did not have a car. Thank you for taking me to get fast food at 10 p.m. Thank you for always being there when I had dumb break downs about boys. Every day I got to spend time with you helped to shape the person I am and how I carry myself. I learned to hold my head up high, have confidence, and be unapologetic because of you. You let me be myself and appreciated it. Thank you for being the person I can always go to for the most complex and meaningful discussions. I know that at any point I can call you and you will be there to give me advice now the same way you would come pick me up from my house and take me get ice cream and help me back when we were in high school. Thank you for sticking with me and continuing to be my best friend as we left our hometown and went to two different colleges 1,000 miles apart. Thank you for keeping me grounded and reminding me of all the good things from high school. You have become a member of my family and I will always hold your friendship in my heart.
To my college best friend,
College has been the biggest change in my life and without you it would have been so difficult. Thank you for never judging me and always being there to make sure I am safe and happy. Thank you for the million times you have let me crash on your futon. Thank you for keeping me on track doing my school work, but also being around to distract me and give me a break. I am hilarious with you, and together we are always laughing. Thank you for teaching me how two extremely different people can put differences aside and learn from each other. Thank you for opening me up to a different type of life. Thank you for being my family when I am so far away from my blood-related family. Thank you for all the times you took me to get pizza rolls at midnight. Thank you for letting me live my life and recognize my independence, but pulling me back to reality and giving me someone to lean on when needed. I love being in your company, even if that means just sitting with headphones in, separately doing homework. The stories that we have created together are the ones that I would want to pass down. From the first moment we became friends, jamming to Kanye and Paramore in your truck, to yesterday, when we were again jamming to Drake and Red Hot Chili Peppers in your truck, time spent with you is always a good time. You are one of the few people I can and want to see every day. Thank you for going through the annoying dorm life with me. Thank you for making sure I don’t have to eat alone in the dining hall. One year down of college and I feel like I have known you forever and I cannot wait to go through the though remaining years with you by my side.
