Dad,
Every dad wishes for a little boy they can teach to throw a baseball, to watch every Denver game each season and to never love the Patriots (sorry), to show them exactly how to spoil a girl (but never as much as you spoiled me) and to grow into a hard-working man.
But you got me.
That makes me the luckiest girl in the entire world. You taught me how to do all the boy things, like snowmobile, ski like a real bad ass and to love nice beer and not fruity vodka. But you also taught me things that, in my opinion, only a dad can teach a daughter.
You taught me how to love someone with all of my heart. You showed me that no matter what your life surmounts to, family is the only thing that matters. You listened to me cry about boys you didn't even knew existed and problems dad's definitely don't know anything about, and cared anyway. You cheered me on at every sporting event. You paid for, well, everything. You watched me struggle through my teen years and did everything necessary to make me the successful woman I am today.
I think I taught you a couple things too. I taught you how to braid hair (but you still really suck at it). I taught you patience, because everyone knows I'm a real pain in the ass. I taught you how to never comment on a girl's appearance as a teen, because even a comment like "I love your naturally curly hair" will receive a snarky comment like "Well, I'm straightening it anyway." I taught you that children are not financially responsible (that's for sure). I taught you that you'll really miss talking to me when I'm in college, and I know this is true because no one texts me or calls me as much as you (not even my boyfriend), you needy bastard.
I think that if you weren't the coolest dad around, my friends would probably make fun of how dependent on you I am. But they get it because you taught us all that we can only drink top shelf liquor, that any father-daughter time can actually be father-daughter-best friend-and-whoever-else-can-pile-into-the-car-for-dinner time. Everyone in the entire world can see how much love there is between us and not only do I love you for that, but everyone else does too.
You are such a respectable man and I can't imagine my life without a hard-working role model like you. I look up to you in every way possible. I never tell you how thankful I am but I don't know what I would do without you. You're my first call when anything bad happens, or anything good for that matter, even as a grown-ass adult. You are my rock, the most dependable man in my life, my best friend and forever my daddy.
Love always,
Daddy's Little Girl
