An Open Letter To Cardinals Fans
O'Gara

Dear Cardinals fans,

How have you been guys? I know the end of last season was rough. Losing to the Cubs?? In the postseason? Truly upsetting and not to mention embarrassing. I mean come on it’s the CUBS. The Cubs are the worst, even though their team was strong last year and seems to be this year. Yeah, yeah I know, but they still stink like a week-old Italian beef sandwich.

But this letter isn’t about how obnoxious the Cubs are, this is about us, the true Cards fans. You know who you are. The fan that waits to leave until the game is over, even though it’s 110 degrees out and we’re down by 5. This is for the fans that stuck through the rough patch that was the seventies (shout out to my dad) but continue to love the Cards during their time of glory.

My first Cardinals game. Lifelong fan.

This is a great time to be a Cardinals fan. Just look at the facts. In the twenty-first century, the Cardinals have been in the postseason twelve times. It’s only 2016 and we’ve been in the postseason that many times? How can you not love this team? Their record this century has been insane and in the 2010s they have been in the postseason four out of the five World Series. Birds!

Another great thing is how amazing all Cardinals fans are. We are just so happy to see other fans out in the world supporting our team! I get so happy when I see a Cards hat when I’m in New York. It’s amazing. I am truly floored by this record and it has definitely been easy for me to be a Cardinals fan. Their record is amazing and the players have been great throughout the past twenty years. Remember Mark McGwire? Or what about Scott Rolen? In my short life, I have seen some amazing moments and ball players. I saw game six of the 2011 World Series, and I have been at both the 2006 and 2011 series clenchers. So needless to say I’ve been there for some great moments of Cardinals baseball.

Now all of these stats are fantastic and the Cardinals are great, but we need to remain level headed about this. We can’t get cocky like those other teams fans. I’m not going to call specific teams’ fans out but you know who they are. The ones that celebrate when we lose because they “hate the Cardinals so much.” Don’t turn into those people, alright? Just keep cool, don’t boast, and be friendly to those other teams. You know the ones with colors that aren’t red and white.

So in conclusion, the Cards are the best baseball team ever, Cards fans are amazing, but don’t flaunt our success, okay? Just keep it on the down low but take pride in your team. It could be worse. You could be a Cubs fan.

With all my Cardinals loving heart,

Maggie

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
